In-Depth Review of Nature's Logic | 100% All-Natural Pet Food
Many pet owners are starting to evaluate the ingredients they feed their beloved family members. Feeding a high quality pet food helps ensure your pet will live a long and happy life by your side! With all the various dog food brands on the market, it can be difficult to know which food is best for your pet. In your search for a healthier dog food, Nature’s Logic should be at the top of your list.
100% All Natural
Nature’s Logic is a pet food company dedicated to 100% natural, synethic-free pet food products. In the pet food industry, this is almost unheard of. In order to meet AAFCO standards, the majority of pet food manufacturers add synthetic vitamins and minerals because their food ingredients alone don’t provide for the nutritional needs of a dog or cat.
But does it matter if a dog food uses “fake” vitamins?
Absolutely. Simply put, they are not as effective real vitamins, they don’t last as long in the body, and they can mess things up when used with other synthetic vitamins. Only a handful of dog food kibbles can accurately claim 100% all-natural ingredients, and Nature’s Logic is one of the few!
Our experience
We’ve been feeding Nature’s Logic for four years now, and we couldn’t be happier! We have five German Shepherds ranging from 2 to 7 years old, all with high energy and excellent digestive health. We have tried nearly all of their wide array of products and have never had any issues with quality. We currently feed a diet of half raw and half kibble, but Nature’s Logic has been the core of their diet for the majority of the last 4 years.
The products
Kibble
Nature’s Logic sells four lines of kibble for dogs: Original, Grain-Free, Distinction and Distinction Grain-Free. The size of their kibble is small compared to most other brands, and we actually really like that about the food! We typically soak their kibble in hot water or bone broth for 5-10 minutes prior to feeding. Nature’s Logic recommends soaking their kibble to aid in digestion and help rehydrate your pet.
All of the kibble formulas are fairly similar, which is why we’re able to switch between their four kibble lines and numerous proteins seamlessly. All of thier lines include:
Meat protein as the first ingredient
100% natural ingredients
Probiotics and enzymes added to aid your pets digestive system
The key difference in the Distinction Line vs Original is that whole meat is the first ingredient in Distinction, while meat meal is the first ingredient in Original. The grain-inclusive varieties include millet, a healthy source of carbs for most dogs and easier to digest than wheat. The difference in the Grain-Free line is it (obviously) excludes grain. It’s important to note that the Grain-Free kibble line was developed with the risks of DCM in mind, and this shows with Nature’s Logic’s approach to it’s development. This kibble is very high in animal protein, and, thus, natural taurine, and avoids potatoes, peas and other legumes.
Nature’s Logic makes it incredibly easy to switch between proteins. Their Original line of kibble offers 9 protein options, and we seamlessly transition to a new protein with each new bag. In addition, we rotate between their Distinction and Grain-Free lines without issue. Another benefit of rotating proteins is it keeps our dogs interested in their food!
One of the main reasons I believe our dogs have such healthy guts is due to rotating proteins. Many dogs, especially German Shepherds, are prone to food allergies and intolerances. However, rotating proteins can help prevent your dog from developing frustrating intolerances! Prolonged feeding of the same food for long period can lead to itchy skin, hot spots, upset stomach and more.
If you’re looking for a single protein kibble, Nature’s Logic recommends their pork, chicken and sardine formulas. If you need to avoid chicken proteins, they recommend beef, duck & salmon, lamb, rabbit, sardine and venison kibble formulas.
Canned Food
Over the past four years, we’ve given Nature’s Logic canned food occasionally as an extra treat with their meals. That’s not to say this is not a high quality canned food - in fact, they offer the most nutrient dense canned food I’ve come across. Growing up, my family gave their dogs Pedigree canned food, and the quality of that compared to Nature’s Logic is night and day. Nature’s Logic canned foods contain 95% animal ingredients, and their all-natural ingredients list is just as impressive as their kibble.
Nature’s Logic offers ten flavors of canned food, all of which are Grain-Free, Gluten Free and provide complete and balanced nutrition for All Life Stages, except their canned Sardine and Beef Tripe. These formulas are for supplemental feeding only, and the beef tripe is our dogs absolute favorite. The number one ingredient is nutrient dense beef tripe and pairs great with dry or raw dog food!
Raw Frozen
Many people may be surprised to learn that Nature’s Logic also sells raw dog food in five protein varieties: Beef, Chicken, Pork, and Venison. Their ingredients are fairly similar to those in their kibble, and we had no issues introducing our dogs to their raw line. We found the meat to be high quality and easy to quickly thaw in their individual preportioned patties.
They’re sold in 6lb bags in 3.2 oz and 8 oz patty sizes and provides complete and balanced nutrition for All Life Stages.
Bone Broth
We often soak our dogs kibble in bone broth, and our dogs absolutely love it! This is a great option for picky eaters to provide a boost of flavor to dry kibble. It not only tastes good to them, it is also rich in nutrients that support immune health, joint health and enhance nutrient absorption - glucosamine, chondroitin sulfate, and other trace minerals and amino acids.
Chews and Treats
My dogs favorite bite sized treats are Nature’s Logic’s freeze dried bites! The Salmon is the most fragrant and is their absolute favorite! You can also add to your pets food and rehydrate as a tasty meal topper.
My favorite chews for my dogs from Nature’s Logic are their Beef Pizzles, Beef Tracheas, Beef Jerky and Beef Tendons. All of which are sourced from Midwest beef sources and graded USDA Prime. Over the last four years, we’ve received several bags of their chews and have never had an issue with quality. Each chew will last them around 15-30 minutes.
Cost and Availability
Nature’s Logic is a premium dog food, and that is reflected in its cost. You can expect to pay between $65 - $100 for a 25 lb bag of kibble. Chicken, Beef and Pork are their cheapest formulas, while Venison and Rabbit are their most expensive. A case of 12 cans of wet dog food cost between $35 - $80.
You can purchase Nature’s Logic online at Chewy, PetFlow, Pet Food Station, heartypet and K9Cuisine. You can also use their Where to Buy tool to find a store near you that carries their product.
In conclusion
Nature’s Logic offers a wide array of nutrient dense, 100% natural dog and cat food products. Their products have been a core part of our dogs diet for several years, and we’ve only grown to love the brand more over time. If you’re searching for a healthier food for your pet, they should be at the top of your list!

A note about Nature’s Logic for large breed dogs:
I have fed this to two of our dogs as puppies without any issues whatsoever. In fact, they both grew slow and steady, which is ideal for large breed dogs.
“Nature’s Logic believes its products will not cause any puppy (large breed or small) to grow too fast and develop skeletal growth issues. Our diets have been substantiated to provide complete and balanced nutrition for All Life Stages using AAFCO feeding trials.
This is not to say other brands of high protein diets are not contributing to skeletal growth issues in large breed puppies but for reasons that do not exist in the Nature’s Logic diets.
It is Nature’s Logic’s position that a properly formulated whole food diet using high animal protein content will never cause negative effects such as large breed puppy growth issues. Many diets have the following disclaimer, “natural with added vitamins and minerals.” This disclaimer means that the food is natural, but it contains unnatural (synthetic) supplements and the manufacturer does not want the liability of the potential risk involved in their use.“
In response to high calcium/phosphorous ratio from a consulting vet of nature’s Logic
“Nutrition problems in large breed dogs, especially growing puppies, started when breeders added isolate calcium (calcium alone, not complexed with any other minerals) to the diet. This upset many different mineral ratios in the body, resulting in severe changes in bone structure and growth, early onset of arthritis, and other skeletal problems. This is what happens when single nutrients are fed, separated from their food source.
Calcium from whole foods, like hoof stock and bone meal have minerals in “physiologic balance,” meaning how these nutrients occur in the body. Experience has shown that when animals get nutrients from whole foods (like they always have), their bodies handle it well. Whole foods have nutrients the body needs, as well as nutrients and ingredients that help them excrete excess nutrients that are not needed. It is extremely difficult to see nutrient toxicities when eating real foods. The other benefit of using NL foods is the low net sugars/low carb levels, since excess energy is a big part of overly fast growth in large breed dogs.
With the global epidemic of cranial cruciate ligament tears, hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, and other conditions, I firmly believe that dogs eating typical dry dog foods are not absorbing and processing minerals effectively, especially as growing puppies. NL’s hoof stock foods address all of these issues.”
